Mey pays the utmost attention to high quality and consumer health at all phases of its product and production. Accordingly, the systems enabling customer satisfaction, continuous improvement and development are being established within the organization of the Company, and infrastructural investments pursuing cutting-edge high technology are accomplished on such basis. Being the leading company operating at the rapidly-growing spirits industry, Mey, reiterates the concepts of quality product and food safety by the corresponding management systems, and implements the requirements in relation to the ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 22000:2005 standards meticulously. In addition to the fact that Mey is the first raki producer, which has obtained the ISO 9001 certificate, and the first wine-maker, holding the ISO 22000 certificate in Turkey, the Company has ensured that product reliability is effectively preserved and maintained also throughout the sales network upon inclusion of the Sales Distribution Directorate to the certificate in 2008. The Company not only perfectly fulfills its obligations prescribed under the statutory regulations, but also foregrounds the consumer health and customer satisfaction; and determines any and all actions and measures required for ensuring that no risk in terms of health is at issue in relation to the moderately consumed product; and carries out each phase, varying from the suppliers to consumers, by grounding on the management systems policies.
Mey Alkolu İckiler (Mey Spirits) R&D Control Laboratory has been established in 2007 in Tekirdag. Thanks to its robust infrastructure, equipment employing state-of-the-art devices and experienced staff; the said laboratory has qualified to be granted with the TS EN ISO 17025 Laboratry Accreditation Certificate issued by the Turkish Accreditation Agency in 2010.
In line with its principle of continuous improvement, our laboratory has continued to maintain its activities and operations upon obtaining the operating license certificate from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock in 2011. Our laboratory maintains its analysis services in accordance with the standard methods, which are both nationally and internationally recognized, and grounding on its principles of rapid service, impartiality, independence, honesty/integrity, innovation, confidentiality and reliability.
As MEY, we are trying our best to minimize the impact on the environment, to reduce, decompose and recycle the wastes,calculate our carbonfootprint caused by GHG emissions and to minimize the natural resources and energy consumption. For this purpose, we are the only company documenting the environment management system in the spirits industry according to ISO 14001 standard. We are determining our environmental impacts in detail, keeping them under control and continuously developing our environmental performance.
For the first time in Turkey in food industry Mey Alkollü İçkiler Nevşehir İçki Plant asserts that its greenhouse gas inventory and greenhouse report for the calendar year of 2009 were prepared in accordance with the international standard ISO 14064-1 :2006 for quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals at the organization level. as verified by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Ltd., on 07/10/10.
For the First time in Turkey according to PAS 2050:2008 standard, life cycle greenhouse gas emissions were calculated for Kayra Vintage white and red Wine series. Results were verified by Bureau Veritas company on 05/09/2011.
By being aware that the most important resource is the human, MEY realizes its biggest investments to human. As MEY, it is our priority condition to ensure that our employees have a safe and healthy working environment. MEY carries out planned and systematic works about work health and safety.
Within this scope, OHSAS 18001-2007 Management Standard has been adopted as a management model anticipating keeping the practices, which may influence the health and safety of our employees, under control systematically and has implemented a first in spirits industry in Turkey and received a Certificate.
Efficient use of energy is becoming more and more important nowadays. TS EN ISO 50001 energy management system mainly consists of determining the organizations’ energy policy, energy consumption management due to the goals and objectives within the framework and evaluating energy management programs’ performance by ensuring improvements.
In this regard, the certification of Nevsehir Plant has been completed in June 2012 successfully, and a year later the first sustainability audit was carried out. In October 2014 in Tarsus Plant and January 2015 in Bilecik Plant became entitled to take ISO 50001 certification. In future periods, due to our certification plans, ISO 50001 work will be performed for the other plants.
